About Ahmad Sakr
Ahmad Sakr (أحمد صقر) is an independent software developer based in Lebanon. He builds web and backend applications, APIs and system integrations, AI features, relational databases, web scrapers, and data pipelines, along with command-line, terminal, and cross-platform tools. He works in both English and Arabic, including right-to-left web work, and takes on freelance and contract projects remotely.
This is his personal website — a work in progress. The full site is still being built.
What I do
- Web and application development — websites and web apps (marketing and content sites, dashboards, internal tools, client portals) with the server-side logic, accounts, and search behind them, or any single layer of it. Content-managed sites a non-developer can update, bilingual English/Arabic layout, rebuilds that cut weight and maintenance cost, and performance and accessibility work.
- APIs and integrations — documented REST and JSON APIs, and connecting systems that don't talk to each other: payments, authentication and single sign-on, messaging, storage, analytics, maps. Syncing data between platforms, webhook endpoints and event-driven workflows, middleware that keeps two systems in step, and platform-to-platform migrations.
- AI integration — adding AI features with attention to cost, accuracy, and failure modes: assistants and chat interfaces grounded in your own content or data; retrieval and semantic search that work on meaning rather than keywords; document processing such as extraction, summarisation, and classification; AI-assisted steps inside a larger workflow; agents that take defined actions against your systems, with limits and logging; and the evaluation and guardrails that keep output trustworthy.
- Data, scraping, and pipelines — structured extraction from sites and documents with no API, including JavaScript-heavy pages, and scheduled monitoring for changes. ETL pipelines that collect, clean, validate, and load data into a database on a schedule with logging and alerts, and reporting pipelines that turn raw data into a digest, dashboard, or export. Lawful, permitted extraction only.
- Databases — relational schema design, query writing and optimisation, indexing, and migrations that evolve a schema without data loss. Data modelling for a new application, or untangling one that grew organically, and consolidating messy data into a validated, queryable store.
- Automation and tooling — command-line tools that reduce a manual, multi-step job to one command, interactive terminal applications, scheduled and event-triggered jobs, chat-platform bots and notifications, and internal tools that wrap a fiddly process into something anyone on a team can run.
- Cross-platform apps — graphical applications for desktop and mobile from a single codebase, often a front end over an existing API or service, with offline-capable, local-first data where it helps.
- How I work — small scope, shipped in slices; plain, portable output with few dependencies and hosting you control; handover notes and documentation, so you're never tied to me; in English or Arabic.

Is Ahmad Sakr available for freelance or contract work?
Yes. He takes on short builds, integration and automation jobs, AI features, backend and database work, and rescue work on stalled or slow projects, working remotely with clients anywhere.
What does Ahmad Sakr specialise in?
Web and backend development, APIs and systems integration, AI integration, and data work — scraping, pipelines, and relational databases. Bilingual English/Arabic and right-to-left web work is a particular focus.
Can Ahmad Sakr build a website or web app?
Yes — the site, the backend, the API layer, and the database behind it. He also does rebuilds, performance work, and accessibility fixes.
Can Ahmad Sakr build a bilingual or right-to-left Arabic website?
Yes — fully bilingual English/Arabic sites with correct right-to-left layout and separate URLs per language.
Does Ahmad Sakr work with AI?
Yes — adding AI features to products and workflows: assistants grounded in your own content, semantic search, document processing such as extraction and classification, and AI-assisted steps inside larger automations. He pays attention to cost, accuracy, and what happens when the model gets it wrong.
